KC + Tim | La Jolla, CA
Pin It
The day couldn't have been more beautiful for KC and Tim's La Jolla engagement session and it was full of surprises! I so loved catching up with KC since our summers working at Camp MiVoden in Idaho. The spark in her eyes and the way that Tim just adores her made this friend happy.
A seagull stopped in for his moment of fame.
The cutest surprise of the evening was the wave that creeped up on the lovebirds, and Tim whisking KC out of the water! Such an adorable couple!

Austin + Cassia's night to remember!
The sprinkling rain did not keep Austin and Cassia's love from shinning through on their wedding day. Nor did it stop us from wandering the streets of downtown Greeneville to capture these night shots. It was quite the night to remember...

For those of you who don't know me I have this crazy, curly hair. So there isn't a day that i don't have numerous bobby pins to hold it back. I have been know to rescue many a girl from their unruly hair by pulling out one of my bobby pins out during a photo shoot. So when I stumbled on these pearl bobby pins on Etsy I thought what a fun way to add a little flair to my daily hair do.

The Leap... to Greatness!
This quote hit me right where I needed. For months I have been searching, wondering if God really wants me to be a photographer. I love kids! I have a degree in Education, one that I spent tons of money on. And here is this talent of photography that God is showing me this is His plan right now. In my post, A Celebration of Love... and My Photography Journey, I shared about how this past year God has answered prayers and and sent direction. Even more so lately He has been showing me where He wants me.
What I need to ask myself: Am I fully ready to accept that I am a photographer? God has given me signs and direction, its time for me to stop and get over it! I want to be a photographer! I really want to pour myself into it and accept that. I've decided to take some leaps, to stop standing in the way of greatness. There are going to be some new and exciting changes these next months. Ones I can't wait to share...
But I must ask you... What greatness are you keeping from the world? Are you standing in the way of it?
The other day my friend Will Coca, an awesome musical artist, posted this quote on Facebook.
"The only thing standing between greatness and me is ... Me".
-Woody Allen

A Pride and Prejudice Moment!

In a blackberry orchard with the warm summer sun setting, Corey adoringly kissed Rachel's shoulder. "It was my 'Pride and Prejudice' moment," said Rachel of the picture above. Their bridal session was filled with stolen kisses among blackberry bushes, tender looks and the glimmer of just weeks old married bliss in their eyes. We incorporated a beautiful vintage couch and chair, old typewriter and suitcase. All which were fabulously used during their wedding.
Take a glimpse at Corey and Rachel's love for each other and their dreamy bridal session.

Congratulations you two and may you always show your love and passion for each other!

The Origin of My Love for Food!
My mom was supportive of my brother, Adam, and my creative endeavors in the kitchen... no matter how big a mess we made! Its something that has shaped who my brother and I are today and the passion for food we both have.
This past weekend Adam and I got together to make homemade Tortellini! Adam in the past year has become a master at pasta and pizza. Much like I have spent the past several years, reading and practicing everything I could about photography, he has done the same with Italian cooking. It is impressive the dishes he turns out. Here is a glimpse into the process!
Spending time in the kitchen is a big part of my family and our memories... Its something we all love to do. Often I get asked where did you learn to cook and find your love for food. I remember as a little girl, picking berries with my daddy and returning home with berry stained hands and mouth. We would get to work baking pies.
Memories like this are something I held onto after my daddy died. As I grew and kept cooking it gave me a sense of being close to him and those memories.

Adam has a pasta press that he rolled his fresh dough into sheets and then cut the in circles. Meanwhile I made a portabello mushroom filling for the Tortellini.
The best part of his homemade pasta is the amazing rich and flavorful tomato sauce he mades from scratch. This batch was made with tomatoes and basil fresh from the garden. I might be partial, but Adam's pasta dishes are better than any restaurants I have had. This one was the same. Melt in your mouth.

A celebration of love... and my photography journey!
Tomorrow morning I'll be taking off for Minnesota to capture the sure-to-be gorgeous wedding of my friend, Christina and her soon-to-be hubby, Tyler... This wedding is personally significant to me and my photography business.
You see this whole journey as a photographer was so unplanned. Graduating from college I had every intention of getting a teaching job. But God had something else in store for me... My little college sideline job of lifestyle photography sessions turned into a steady cliental base. I decided to take a year and peruse it, see if I could make a successful business out of it. While business was good in the next months I knew that I should start thinking about the next year. I really love kids and love teaching and unless I really felt God wanted me to be doing photography I should find a teaching job. So in November 2011 I asked God for 5 weddings this summer or a teaching job for the coming school year.
God blew me away!!! The inquires for wedding photography started coming in and some of my fabulous couples of this summer started booking. It was Christina that called the first of January to ask me to be her photographer... My 5th wedding. I'll never forget the feeling of gratefulness and peace that came after hanging up with Christina. God had given me direction and answered my request.
Now as I get ready to leave for Christina's wedding I am thinking back on the past months...
5 weddings photographed out of 8 booked for this summer, 2 issues of Inspired Magazine published, 2 trips to Texas for Senior Sessions, and numerous lifestyle sessions sprinkled in between.
It's been quite the journey. I have grown, I have doubted, but I am learning to trust this plan for my life, one that I never had in mind.
This weekend is not only a celebration of Christina and Tyler's love, but for me, it is a celebration of the love and plan God has for my life.

May= weddings, 12 hour editing days, meetings with brides, family sessions and numerous graduations. To say this month has been busy would be putting it mildly. But in the midst of all the craziness I took B.O.B.'s advise in his new song, So Good...

Andrea and Jay . . . A Savannah Wedding

This was a special wedding for me to photograph... Andrea and my sister, Carrie, have been lifelong best friends. Growing up I always loved to be included in whatever exciting adventures they were scheming. They were partners in crime and I was in awe of them and the fun pranks they pulled. So it was such an honor to be asked to photograph Andrea and Jay's wedding. It felt much like my own sister was getting married.
Savannah is a photographers dream... Moss covered trees, historic houses and countless parks. Andrea and Jay got married at Telfair Square. Here is a glimpse of their beautiful wedding.

Andrea you are GORGEOUS!
Jay just adores Andrea and it was evident throughout the weekend!
The moss covered trees made a perfect backdrop for so many of the pictures.
These kids are just adorable! Andrea made the little girls tutu's!
The bridesmaid dresses went so well with Andrea's dress... Simple and neutral! I couldn't get over how much I loved the flowers! Just had to show them off!
The girls road through the streets of Savannah to the wedding site in a carriage. Such a fun way to arrive!
A sweet moment with Andrea and her dad before walking down the aisle!
Each girl was given a broach for their gift and they were use to pin together their bouquets! Great idea!
The sun was just right in the sky after the wedding... casting a romantic glow on Andrea and Jay as they left.
Congrats Andrea and Jay... I am so thrilled that you found each other! Enjoy the rest of your lives together!
